Affiliate Marketing - Some Things You Need To Know When Getting Started

This has to be one of the easiest and fastest ways to start making money on the internet. Affiliate marketers don't need to make or stock products because you will be selling other peoples products. You don't take payments and you don't need a super duper sales page either. Almost all of the work is done for you. As an affiliate marketer all you have to do is send traffic to your chosen affiliate program. You don't sell you presell. You spark an interest in the product, make them want to click the link to your affiliate program's sales page. They do the selling there and you make a commission.

There are some things you should and should not do that will keep you from wasting time, effort and money.

Read and understand this, it is very important. Most people fail at affiliate marketing or internet marketing because they do not take the time to learn the basics. They will throw up a site put, a bunch of banners and text links up, none or very little content, a bunch of unrelated products, do a little marketing get no sales then say well I tried and did no good, you can't make any money on the internet, wrong. First you need some good content and only one or two related affiliate products to start with. Then make a good professional page. Market said page properly and see the results you get. You need to learn a little first. I don't have one banner on any of my affiliate pages. Banners are not bad but use them very sparingly. They can make your site go from looking very professional to very armature fast. One maybe two well placed banners from very high quality programs is ok, but no more. Once you get going and are successful then you can start adding more affiliate programs and branching out.

Here are some tips on picking an affiliate program to promote.

Try to start out with something you know about and have and have an interest in. Research products in that niche that you can market. It will be that much easier for you to get going and be excited about a product if you have an interest in it. You can market products that you are not really interested in but just starting out having a passion for something makes it that much easier to write about it.

This is why you need to have a passion for your product to sell it well, you can send potential buyers to your website and presell them with a review of the product or products , not a sales page, a review. While your potential customer is there, capture some details, an email address and name at least, into an autoresponder series. By getting these details, and building a list of customers interested in this product, you have the possibility of sending them emails containing your affiliate link so they see the product more than once. It doesn't have to be difficult or costly to setup either, there are plenty of free autoresponders you can use (Google for free autoresponder) and this is where your passion for your niche will help again, as you can write a short course of emails to preload into the autoresponder, so you can set it up and forget it.

But the real benefit of capturing the details of your visitors, and sending them emails is that you get the opportunity to sell to them again and again. If you find other products in the future which relate to the original one you were promoting, you can send one or two emails to your list, knowing they are interested in this second, third or whatever product and are more likely to buy. We're not talking about badgering the life out of your subscribers, as they will then unsubscribe, but helping them find products which may be of help, or value to them in their lives.
